The game Campaign is represented by a large number of levels with a variety of opponents. The usual team for battle consists of 5 heroes. The task is to defeat the enemy characters in a minute and a half. Every fourth battle is a boss, which is an additional obstacle for gamers.
Gradually, the levels will become more complicated, new opponents and races will appear, so it will not be possible to select one team that can destroy opponents without the participation of the player at all. AFK Arena implements a rather complex system of factions and heroes belonging to them. There is no leading faction, each of them has both superiority and weaknesses over other factions. Thanks to this, the game is balanced and still interesting to many users.
So, the Lightbringer faction has an advantage over the Maulers. Maulers have an advantage over Wilders. The latter are stronger than the Grave-Born, and they are already much stronger than the Lightbringers. There are also factions that oppose each other, such as the Hypogea and the Celestials. When they fight, advantage is determined by rolling the dice.
Another faction is the Dimensionals, which are considered slightly stronger than others in terms of overall strength, but have a number of common weaknesses that do not allow such heroes to take a dominant position. In cases where there are several champions belonging to a certain faction on the same team, they receive bonuses. Also, various enhancements can occur when different fractions are mixed in certain proportions.
Leveling Champions
Another distinctive feature of AFK Arena is the pumping of champions. Usually the player gains experience for each battle, and heroes grow with it. Here the user also gains experience, its level grows, but it has practically no effect. Only the selection of opponents in the arena depends on the level.
Characters gain experience for each battle in the form of a resource - "hero experience", which must be applied to a specific champion in order to pump it. Such a system allows you to invest a precious resource in exactly those champions that their owner needs.
For pumping, the gamer needs to go to the character menu, select the desired character and invest the required amount of resources in his pumping.
At 11,21 and subsequent multiples of 20 levels, the characters receive a special boost in the form of pumping one of the skills. Such a buff increases the champion's performance dramatically, but also requires Hero's Essence to upgrade.
Types of heroes
In AFK Arena, all characters are divided not only into factions, but also into types:
- Exalted - have the best parameters, have 4 skills that improve with leveling. Obtaining such champions requires collecting 60 fragments (hero cards), summoning through the Tavern, or issued as a prize for completing the Dark Forest.
- Legendary – the characteristics of such champions are mediocre, appearing from average and elite cards. They have only 3 skills, which gradually improve with leveling.
- Normal – the weakest champions of the game, who are useful mainly in starting locations. They only have 2 skills and do not increase their level.
What to do with regular heroes
The most common question for beginners, and in the guides you can find a fairly common answer - get rid of them quickly, using for rebirth or pumping. And it's the wrong way.
It is these characters that will be useful in the first chapters of the Campaign, until truly useful champions appear. They can later be used for rebirth, receiving a small amount of Hero's Essence for dismissing them, but this amount is too small to make a significant difference.
Much better use such champions to fight criminals in the Dark Forest. In addition, to complete a number of quests, characters of a certain faction are required, and it is not so easy to get them, and a group, albeit with one ordinary hero, is able to go through such battles with good pumping of other characters.
Gathering the Perfect Gear
Loot is an integral part of AFK Arena. Most often, these are equipment for champions that will increase their characteristics. As in the case of heroes, equipment is divided into 3 classes and, depending on this, adds characteristics to champions. This also includes the belonging of the loot to a certain faction.
Part of the equipment can be obtained in daily rewards or in the store for in-game gold. But really high-quality equipment is obtained during the passage of events or in battles for defeating difficult opponents. Also, if the player is idle for a while, there is a chance of free equipment falling out.
The player's task, having decided on the key champions, is to select the optimal equipment that strengthens the characters of interest to him, gradually getting rid of the loot that does not suit him.
Resonating crystal and its application
This update was a great gift from the developers to all users of the game. Thanks to this innovation, it became possible to very quickly raise the level of 5 favorite heroes to the maximum, with the subsequent possibility of replacing characters in the future.
When the crystal is activated, the 5 heroes with the highest level will be automatically placed in it. As a result, everyone is brought to the same level, pumping is possible to the “Legendary+” quality, which corresponds to level 160. However, if you place 5 naturally leveled characters of level 240 on the pentagram, pumping up the crystal for gold and hero essence opens, after which the level becomes unlimited.
The hero can be removed from the crystal, but a new one can be added only after a day. It will only be possible to reduce this time for diamonds, and then the character can be replaced by another champion. The only exception is when a champion is retired, in which case the next character with the highest level will take his place.
Fast Leveling Tips
The AFK Arena game is multifaceted, and trying to include the entire gaming experience in one guide would be a bit presumptuous. However, there are a number of tips that will be useful for beginners and will allow you to get the most out of the game at first:
- Save a Quick Reward for Later. The level of the prize depends on how far the player has gone. It is better to complete all the tasks and only then activate its receipt in order to take the maximum possible.
