Full review of the KV-2 in WoT Blitz: the Soviet "log gun"

WoT Blitz

KV-2 is a cult car. Non-standard appearance, total instability and a powerful drin, plunging the enemy into horror by the mere fact of its existence. Many people love this tank. KV-2 has even more ardent haters. But why is a heavy tank of the sixth level receiving such attention. Let's figure it out in this guide!

Characteristics of the tank

Weapons and firepower

Characteristics of two KV-2 guns

Satan-Pipe. Mixing, during which some tanks manage to reload twice. Accuracy, which allows you to loosen the ground near the enemy's tracks, while being a couple of meters away from him. And, of course, an incredible alpha, offset by an equally incredible cooldown in 22 seconds.

This weapon, when penetrated by a high-explosive projectile, is capable of swan-shotting many sixers, and makes sevens regret that they didn’t get a one-shot. If penetration is not enough, then a high-explosive projectile can easily bite off 300-400 HP of the enemy, simultaneously concussing half of the crew.

The price of a shot is incredibly high. For this reason, it makes sense to put calibrated shells on the KV-2. Waiting 20.5 or 22 seconds is a small difference. In any case, you will not shoot at the CD. But the improved penetration will allow you to more often penetrate enemies with land mines or gold BBs.

For the sake of decency, it is worth saying that the KV-2 has an alternative gun with a caliber of 107 millimeters. And it's good enough. High, as for TT-6 alpha, good penetration and crazy DPM. For sixes, 2k is already a good result. The KV-2 has the best damage per minute among the TT-6s.

But do not think that the alternative weapon is much more comfortable. It is the same oblique, just the price of a miss is lower there.

Armor and security

Collision model KV-2

NLD: 90 millimeters.

VLD: 85 millimeters.

Tower: 75 mm + gun mantlet 250 mm.

Boards: 75 millimeters.

Stern: 85 millimeters.

The KV-2 has no armor. Nowhere. Although it is a heavy tank, it is not capable of tanking, even if it is fired upon by fives. The only thing you can hope for is the magic mask of the gun, which covers almost the entire area of the top of the tower. If you manage to get away from the terrain, then you can tank.

And yes, the KV-2 pierces itself with land mines in the lower part of the tower when playing on calibrated ones. No, you don't need to put extra armor on it. He already received much less HP than other heavyweights, and the problem of meeting with his clones can be solved in a different way.

Speed and mobility

Speed, dynamics and overall mobility of the KV-2

Usually cardboard bands are able to move quite actively around the map, but not in the case of HF. The maximum forward speed is tolerable, back — no. Dynamics, maneuverability, hull and turret traverse speed are also far from bearable.

The cord is very viscous. It's like he's always drowsy. Through the swamp. Soaked in honey. If you miscalculate with the flank, you are unlikely to have time to shoot at least something. If the LT flies to turn you, and you didn’t blow off his face with the first shot, then this is where your odyssey in battle ends.

The best equipment and gear

Equipment, ammunition and outfit for KV-2

The equipment is standard, that is, two straps and adrenaline to cut off four seconds of reloading once a minute. Ammunition is also usual: two additional rations to make the tank charge a little faster and drive a little better, as well as gasoline to improve mobility.

But the equipment is already interesting. The key point here is “protective complex +” (first row, vitality). He adds a lot of things, but the most important thing is “-10% to the armor penetration of enemy high-explosive fragmentation shells with a caliber of 130 mm or more”. That is, the same KV-2, shooting you under the tower with a landmine, will have not 84 millimeters of breakdown, but 76. This means that the slightest lapel of the head will no longer allow it to penetrate you. If the enemy is on the rammer, then he has no chance at all. But what is even more important - in the scope you will be yellow, and in 99% of cases the enemy will not throw a landmine, deciding to give a stable AP.

But not everyone knows about it. Yes, and there are always chances to break through the enemy with luck. Because it really makes sense to establish calibrated projectiles.

Last but not the least equipment − increased charge (second row, firepower). It is put in place of reinforced actuators, because of which you will reduce as much as 0.7 seconds longer. But you've been reduced to eternity. Believe me, you will not even notice an increase of 0.7 seconds. But the greatly increased projectile flight speed - notice.

In general, we fully assemble the KV-2 in order to squeeze rarely, but aptly. As far as it is possible in the conditions of the game.

With shells, everything is simple. Due to the long reload time, you won't be able to shoot everything. You can take it as on the screen. You can take 12-12-12. The main thing is not to neglect the gold BBs. Ordinary ones almost never pierce anyone, but gold ones completely. Or just shoot with explosives.

How to play the KV-2

There is nothing easier. You just need to turn off your head. KV-2 is not about “thinking”. It's not about analyzing the situation or reading the minimap. Forget efficiency, stability, and damage. He is about coming closer to the enemy, taking a poke from him and giving out his log in response.

KV-2 in battle makes a "penetration"

The main thing is to keep allies nearby. Without cover, the KV-2 does not live long. As already mentioned, he has neither armor nor mobility. And reloading takes longer than 20 seconds. During this time, they will have time to send you to the hangar twice - in this and in the next battles. So just relax and enjoy.

Pros and cons of a tank

Cons:

Shooting comfort. Aiming time comparable to the reload time of most classmates' strands, as well as accuracy that does not allow even hitting Mouse consistently. And do not forget about reloading, which takes a third of a minute.

Mobility. Driving forward is the only thing the KV-2 can do. And he doesn't do it very fast. It's just that against the background of a disgustingly slow turn and weak dynamics, such a maximum speed looks good.

Armor. The armor of this heavy tank is not even enough to tank vehicles of a lower level. Any enemy will give you nightmares if they surprise you while reloading.

Stability. The car is oblique, slow, cardboard, reloads for a very long time, and also depends on the team and randomness to the maximum. In one battle, you will give the enemy several logs for a mower. In the other, fly off with zero, because not a single log will reach the enemy.

Performance. Of course, with such an unstable game and a huge number of minuses, there can be no talk of any high results. This tank isn't there to raise win rates or hit high average damage.

Pros:

Fan. One and only plus, which is decisive for many players. Someone extols the funness of the KV-2 gameplay and is ready to roll this car, despite all its disadvantages. Others believe that it is not worth suffering so much for the sake of a couple of juicy cakes. But everyone loves to give 1000 damage at the sixth level. Therefore, many KV-2s still stand in the hangar.

Results

Just one word - rubbish. When a KV-2 projectile flies at you, it is impossible to remain indifferent. When your log flies into a cardboard Nashorn or Hellcat, taking the self-propelled gun to the hangar, it is impossible to remain indifferent. KV-2 is not about the result, it is about emotions. About anger and annoyance when 3 ideal logs are stopped by the ground. About puppy delight, when with three shots you do more damage than a medium tank that sweated the whole battle.

KV-2: 3 shots = 2k damage

3 shots in a two-minute battle - more than two thousand damage. And this is far from the toughest result. Periodically, the Soviet fury can fire behind the roller 3 times, and all three times will be penetrations for 1000+ damage.

That is why they love and hate this car. And few people can still boast that they do not leave indifferent most of the tank community.
